Honeymoon and Minimoon in Torquay

Posted on October 16th 2015 by

I love my job and feel very blessed and grateful to be able to say that. What makes it even better is when I see the memories that are made by our guests whether it is a birthday, an anniversary or a Honeymoon or Minimoon. I am always truly humbled by the fact that people have gone to great lengths to research their perfect place to celebrate their special occassion and so often choose us here at The Meadfoot Bay as the place for them. This weekend in fact we have some guests staying who are celebrating their wedding and we already have multiple bookings already in place for next year for guests looking to have their honeymoon and minimoon with us.

In this blog post I want to talk about a real trend that I have seen growing especially in the last few years and this is the popularity of Torquay becoming one of the places to celebrate a wedding or Honeymoon / Minimoon. Torquay is now establishing itself as one of finest seaside resorts in the UK and as a result has been #1 by the TripAdvisor community for the last two years. This increase of awareness in the area has resulted in us noticing a sharp increase in couples coming to Torbay to celebrate their special day. Torquay has in the past been a popular resort for weddings and since we took over the hotel back in 2006 we have welcomed back so many guests who were staying purely to retrace their steps after getting married or spending their honeymoon here. It is great to see the trend returning and in all honesty it really doesn't come as a great surprise to me. When the weather behaves you could be almost anywhere in the world, whether you are on a walk down Meadfoot Beach or taking a stroll along the marina to Torre Abbey. One of the main factors being given for this increase is that by having a wedding in the UK it makes it a lot more accessible for family and friends to attend. This of course makes sense as not everyone can travel abroad due to certain circumstances and the fact that many people can still have the gorgeous beaches, stunning views and have their loved ones here is proving a recipe for success.

Hope everyone is healthy, happy and having a great year. :)
