Trips On The River Dart

If you are looking to enjoy one of the area's finest experiences, then we can offer you a relaxing, informal and stylish opportunity to experience a trip on the River Dart on board the Admirals Tender. The charter is charged at £85.00 per hour with a minimum 3 hour trip.

Admirals Tenders

Tim Johnson skipper of the Admirals Tender will guide you through some absolutely breathtaking scenery and show you parts of the river not available on most tours. Another exciting aspect to this charter is the flexibility you can enjoy onboard, Tim can design your trip for you based on where you would like to go. Fancy stopping off somewhere to explore.... not a problem, this is your tour and you tell us what you would like to do. The hourly rate is not increased as the amount of passengers increases, it is a flat fee so going as a group can make this an even better deal.

Having a bespoke feast prepared for you would add a delicious treat to your experience. We can organise personal hampers for you at the hotel to take on board as well as Champagne, wine and chocolate packages. Again we are flexible so you can tell us what you want and it will be done. Have something special in mind, let us know and we will be more than happy to organise this for you. You may also bring your own picnic if you prefer - but why bother with the hassle?

Whatever your requirements, please contact us on 01803 294722 or through the website enquiry form and we'll be happy to help make your dream of a perfect day out on the River Dart onboard a luxury boat a reality!

Things to see and do on the river Dart

The river dart is beautiful at all times but a morning charter is when the river is often at its best with the rich wildlife in abundance, the early mist rising and the Admirals Tender perfectly gliding through the water. An afternoon on the River Dart is also a very special thing. There is lots to see and do, and you'll undoubtedly want the day to last forever as you serenely make your passage up the Dart taking in the special sights of Agatha Christie's house (Greenway Mansion), the Sharpham Vineyards and the picturesque villages of Dittisham and Stoke Gabriel. (stop offs are available).

The 12 miles of the River Dart between Totnes and the sea is best explored by boat to fully appreciate what is commonly considered to be the most scenic river in England.

Taking a charter with us will enable you to see many of the most beautiful and interesting sights along this stunning stretch of river. We've listed some of the most popular sights on this page

Greenway House

Hidden by an exquisite woodland garden, Agatha Christie's home with the most famous and celebrated house on the dart. It has now been restored by the National Trust and is now open for the public for the first time.

Sharpham House

The Sharpham Estate is best seen from a boat on a misty Autumn morning when the woods, the vineyard, and the boathouse are shrouded in a magical mist.

It is possible to take a tour of the estate and buy award winning Sharpham wine (the vineyard is regarded as one of England's best) and unpasteurised, organic Sharpham cheese from the herd of Jersey cows on the estate.

Dittisham

A picture postcard village on the banks of the River, properties in this sought after village have one of the best views you could dream of! The multi-coloured flotilla of boats, yachts and fisherman makes arguably the finest river view in England and there is an excellent pub and cafe on the waterfront from where you can soak up the sheer beauty of the scene.

Anchor Stone

At high spring tides this rock, which marks the northern end of deep water, cannot be seen - which is why a prominent red mark has been placed on top. Also known as the scold stone, it is where unfaithful or nagging wives in Dittisham were supposed to have been placed by their husbands to teach them a lesson!

Britannia Royal Naval College

For 150 years officers for the Royal Navy have been trained in Dartmouth. The white stone and red brick college on the hillside is much admired and tours can be arrange to suit the itinary of your tour.

Dartmouth Castle

Dartmouth Castle - the first in England designed for cannon and other heavy artillery - was built in 1490 to keep out the French and the Bretons, then England's greatest enemy.
