Images in order of appearance: The Elephant : No.7 Fish : The Seahorse : The Crab Shack : River Exe Cafe : Lympstone Manor
We've some fantastic restaurants just a stroll away including the Michelin starred Elephant and No.7 Fish (no prizes for guessing their speciality) or there's more fine dining at The Orange Tree. Back down at Meadfoot Beach there's the more modest, but equally enjoyable Meadfoot Cafe with one of the best views in town.
There are also more treats in store further afield and you have a car. If you're staying for longer than a couple of days we really do recommend you explore a little more. The effort is really well worth it! Of course our own Brasserie at the Bay might prove most tempting of all...
Book early to avoid disappointment
Many of the restaurants mentioned below are very popular indeed, so if you've got your heart set on dining in them please be sure to book in advance. Better still ask us to do it for you as sometimes we can 'magic' a table from the maître d' when none appear to be available.
Holder of a Michelin star for fourteen years, the Elephant is the only restaurant to hold such an accolade. Obviously great cooking from chef Simon Hulstone, but in a very relaxed atmosphere and excellent value for money

THE NO.7 FISH

Award winning fish and chip shop that have been serving the public for over 30 years
A pub/restaurant (with rooms attached) in a fabulous setting on the bay with far reaching views up the coast. Beware though. It is located down a very steep road with blind hairpin bends so only for the adventurous driver. Better still take a cab. Or even better still it can be reached via the South West Coastal Path
THE SEAHORSE - DARTMOUTH
A winner of the Observer Best Restaurant of the Year, sitting on the harbour front in Dartmouth, just steps from the lower ferry landing, lies the Seahorse. As the name suggests, the menu has a seafood bias and its cuisine shows a strong Italian influence
Two Michelin stars tells you that dining here will be no ordinary experience and BBC Great British Menu star, Chef Michael Caines will not disappoint. Nor will its hillside setting overlooking the Exe estuary. A must for a special summer evening
With a fisherman husband whose catch is cooked fresh in the shack and what he doesn't land arrives from the Brixham's fish market, this small, but perfectly formed shack on the beach offers a true seaside dining experience to remember
